How to Stop Wasting Time on Business Process
Let’s face it, most of us are guilty of sometimes sticking with bad habits or practices just because we lack the time, inclination, resources or motivation to change them. It’s a really common scenario and sometimes just ‘getting on and dealing with’ things as they are feels like the easier option. But you don’t have to with effective Software Development.
The problem is, when it comes to business those bad practices or recurring issues can have a really detrimental impact on your company’s performance. Multiply that negative impact by several years and it can become a really significant issue that can take its toll on the business.
Using software development to streamline
A client of ours experienced the same issue in their business recently. They were struggling with the recruitment and selection system they had in place across their devolved offices.
The problem: The job application system they were using was largely paper based and involved processing applications centrally along with sending paper recruitment files out to recruiting managers and selection panels. Not only was this process labour intensive and time consuming, it also increased the risk of human error and lost paperwork.
The solution: In order to reduce the level of time and resource involved with the recruitment and selection process, soVision IT custom Software Development team worked closely with the HR team to map the existing processes and translate these into an enhanced workflow that could be automated.
By moving applications online via the website, the job file could be closed by the HR team who were then able to initiate and track the process moving forward. Job applications became available to authorised staff on the recruitment panel so they could review applications and evaluate candidates from their dashboard to produce a shortlist. The lead recruitment manager could instantly see the decisions of all other members of the panel, enabling them to efficiently select a final shortlist based on everyone’s contributions and saving individuals a considerable amount of time.
HR could then make interview arrangements, with the system generating alerts and follow ups throughout the process to recruiting panel members to remind them of their outstanding actions.
The result: A far more collaborative, efficient and failsafe process, the new system has generated significant administrative savings for the client and simplified and streamlined their recruitment process; one that previously drained time, money and resources.
